Governments of Canada and Ontario invest nearly $2.4 million to bring high-speed internet access to up to 299 households in Campbellville
Residents to benefit from increased connectivity to high-speed internet

All Canadians need reliable, affordable high-speed internet, no matter where they live. That is why the governments of Canada and Ontario are taking action to bring high-speed internet access to unserved and underserved communities across the province.
Today, Adam van Koeverden, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health and to the Minister of Sportand Member of Parliament for Milton, on behalf of the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development, together with Parm Gill, Member of Provincial Parliament for Milton, on behalf of the Honourable Kinga Surma, Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure, announced nearly $2.4 million in combined federal-provincial funding for Cogeco Connexion to bring high-speed internet access to up to 299 homes in Campbellville, Ontario.
Today’s announcement builds on the Government of Canada’s progress toward ensuring that 98 per cent of Canadians have access to high-speed internet by 2026, and 100 per cent by 2030. The announcement also brings the Government of Ontario closer to achieving its goal of bringing reliable high-speed internet access to every community across the province by the end of 2025.

Abbiamo lottato duramente negli anni scorsi per ottenere i 300 milioni che finanziano il Piano di Rigenerazione Olivicola contro la Xylella, quei fondi dopo anni stanno arrivando ma lo fanno troppo a rilento, e questa pachidermica lentezza determinata dalla burocrazia sta sfiancando gli olivicoltori e i frantoiani delle zone colpite dal batterio. Occorre una svolta sui tempi e sui modi. Ricerca, abbattimenti e reimpianti assieme alle buone prassi preventive per il contenimento della diffusione sono la strada maestra, ma se le risorse arrivano troppo a rilento la lotta contro la cosiddetta sputacchina diventa una lotta contro i mulini a vento. Italia Olivicola, ancora una volta, tornata a chiedere che il Piano sia sbloccato attraverso la nomina governativa di un Commissario Straordinario per la lotta contro la Xylella con immediatezza di poteri. Gli ostacoli di una macchina burocratica lenta e macchinosa, a 10 anni dallinizio della diffusione del batterio e dei suoi effetti devastanti sul territorio, rischiano di azzerare completamente la filiera olivicola nel Salento e nelle altre zone colpite. A rischio, con lulteriore avanzata del batterio, tutta la Puglia. Il potenziale produttivo della filiera olivicola salentina e delle zone colpite dal batterio ha subito un vero e proprio crollo, con danni enormi anche dal punto di vista del paesaggio. I reimpianti sono ancora pochi, ma dimostrano di poter funzionare, per questo un delitto ritardare ancora e non dare modo, agli olivicoltori determinati a non abbandonare questa coltura, di poter ricostruire quanto andato distrutto con le dissecazioni, gli incendi e tutto quanto il resto, ha aggiunto Sicolo. Senza olivi capaci di rimettere in piedi la produzione non c redditivit, senza redditivit le aziende agricole e i frantoi chiudono, si perdono migliaia di posti di lavoro e il territorio va incontro a una desertificazione che al contempo naturale e umana.
