Moderna has “effectively admitted” that it is not the sole owner of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, campaigners say

“At last, Moderna has effectively admitted that it is not the sole owner of the knowledge behind mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, even if the company won’t say it explicitly. This vaccine was developed with government scientists, building on decades of publicly funded research, and almost entirely funded by taxpayers.
“The next step is for the US government to force Moderna to share the technology and knowhow behind this vaccine with the world through the mRNA Technology Transfer Hub in South Africa and the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Technology Access Pool. Publicly funded technology should be treated as a global public good, not a commodity used for colossal profits.”
