Week in brief 11-17 April 2022
High level conference: Work-life balance – a leverage for women’s empowerment and promoting gender equality
The scene will be set with opening addresses by Elena Bonetti, Italian Minister for Equal Opportunities and Family; Benedetto Della Vedova, Italian Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Claudia Luciani, Council of Europe Director of Human Dignity, Equality and Governance, and Helena Dalli, European Commissioner for Equality.
The conference will be structured around three sessions:
– the first will focus on relevant best practice examples of policies and reforms from a selection of member States,
– the second will look at gender-sensitive policies, including a better sharing of care responsibilities, from employers’ perspectives,
– the third Session will examine the various impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the work and family responsibilities of women and men.

It aims at strengthening the quality, recognition, and outreach of education for democratic citizenship and human rights education with young people.
Some 400 participants will share their experiences as educators and human rights activists, review the state of implementation of the Council of Europe Charter on Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education (EDC/HRE) and identify priorities for the next five years.
12 April, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing one judgment concerning Denmark.
14 April, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing 43 judgments and/or decisions concerning Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, the Republic of Moldova, Monaco, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Turkey.
