Exclusively premiering on TimVision on 18 September is ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep
North’, the long-awaited five-part miniseries based on Richard Flanagan’s Booker Prizewinning novel of the same name. The series tells the life and love story of Dorrigo Evans,
played by Jacob Elordi in his youth and Ciarán Hinds in adulthood, from his experiences in
World War II to his final years as a respected surgeon and reluctant war hero.
Dorrigo, a young doctor from Tasmania, is deported to a Japanese prison camp and
employed in the construction of the Death Railway, which runs between Bangkok and
Burma. An endeavour that cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of men. Dorrigo does
everything he can to protect his comrades from hunger, disease, and the brutality of the
guards. He is sustained by the memory of his brief affair with Amy Mulvaney (Odessa
Young), his uncle’s young wife, years earlier.
‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North’ is an intimate analysis of a complex man, a gripping
portrayal of the cruelty of war, and an unforgettable love story that offers comfort in the
darkest of times. In addition to Jacob Elordi, Ciarán Hinds and Odessa Young, the cast
includes Olivia De Jonge (Ella Evans in 1940) and Simon Baker (Keith Mulvaney). Curio
Pictures produced the series, which is distributed by Sony Pictures. Justin Kurzel directed
the series and is also an executive producer, alongside Jo Porter, Rachel Gardener,
Alexandra Taussig, Shaun Grant, and Richard Flanagan, the author of the book.
