The School for the Future of Innovation in Society at Arizona State University, with the New York Academy of Sciences, is seeking post-doctoral research scholars to join an interdisciplinary team in the area of AI and Society based at the New York Academy of Sciences. Successful candidates will work closely with an ASU faculty member and staff at the New York Academy to develop an individualized mentoring plan, including faculty from ASU’s College of Global Futures as well as others from its Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and other units.

The Blavatnik Family Foundation, the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and the New York Academy of Sciences, announced the Laureates of the 2023 Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in Israel. This year’s Laureates, who will each receive US$100,000, are: Shai Carmi, PhD (Life Sciences) – The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Rina Rosenzweig, PhD (Chemistry) – Weizmann Institute of Science and Zvika Brakerski, PhD (Physical Sciences & Engineering) – Weizmann Institute of Science.

Academy partner Ericsson recently shared outcomes on our STEM Innovation Challenges. 453 international students were accepted to the Spring iteration, of which 79 students are Omanis. The challenge centered on the green redesign of cities using 5G and IoT technologies. With the participation of 547 students in 118 teams, the Urban Gardens Innovation Challenge organized in Rwanda by the New York Academy of Sciences in partnership with Association Mwana Ukundwa (AMU) has been a great success. Sponsored by the Clifford Chance Cornerstone Initiative, the Spring 2022 competition tasked students aged 13-17 from Kigali, the country’s capital, to use micro-gardening techniques to broaden access to nutritious food sources.
