Brahms & Schubert: Taking the Lied at the Library of Congress
Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 1:00 pm (EST)
The Library of Congress has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to holograph music manuscripts. This year our celebration in honor of Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge—founder of Concerts from the Library of Congress—featured a number of art songs composed by Schubert, Brahms and even Mrs. Coolidge herself, performed by Eric Owens and singers from the Curtis Opera Theatre.
Join us for an exploration of some of these special manuscripts, including a few surprises that weren’t part of the original program. Anyone with an interest in 19th-century songs is welcome, and there will be time for questions at the end. Presenter: David Plylar, PhD, Senior Music Specialist
