A new report [What works to prevent online violence against children](https://worldhealthorganization.cmail20.com/t/d-l-zjjddlt-iitylyihjr-t/)presents ways to address the growing worldwide concern of keeping children safe online.
It focuses specifically on two forms of online violence:
– child sexual abuse including grooming and sexual image abuse;
– cyber aggression and harassment in the form of cyberbullying, cyberstalking, hacking and identity theft.
Violence is a major driver of poor health globally, both directly through physical and psychological injuries it causes and indirectly through its impact on families, communities and society.
Online violence against children is a particularly toxic form of violence because of its capacity to disrupt normal child development, leading to a lifetime of poor physical and mental health.
