Do you know or are learning languages? We need your help! Many of the remaining pages in our summer suffrage challenge were written and published in a variety of languages. We need volunteers to finish transcribing and reviewing transcriptions for these pages:
Suffrage spotlight: Alice Stone Blackwell
If you’ve been reviewing transcriptions in the Blackwell Family Papers during our summer challenge, chances are you’ve come across Alice Stone Blackwell (1857-1950). Born in 1857 to Lucy Stone and Henry Browne Blackwell, Alice grew up in a home and a family animated by a reforming spirit. Alice Stone Blackwell herself became a crucial figure in the history of the women’s suffrage movement, serving as editor for the Women’s Journal and playing a key role in the formation of the National American Women Suffrage Association (NAWSA). But she was involved in many of the progressive movements and organizations of her day, from the pacifist American Peace Society to the Women’s Trade Union League to the Friends of Russian Freedom, a group that supported the Russian Revolution.
