Launch of Blueprint on fungal disease and antifungal resistance
On Tuesday, 30 June, WHO will publish the Blueprint for strengthening responses to fungal disease and antifungal resistance: implementation guidance to help countries respond to one of global health's most underestimated and neglected threats.
Fungal diseases affect more than 300 million people each year, and are associated with high mortality, long-term illnesses, and major losses in health and productivity worldwide. The growing threat of antifungal resistance, driven in large part by the widespread use of antifungals in farming and the environment, is further eroding the effectiveness of an already limited number of antifungal medicines.
Building on the WHO Fungal priority pathogens list and aligned with the Global action plan on antimicrobial resistance, the new Blueprint provides practical guidance for countries to prevent and respond to antifungal resistance.
A webinar about the report will be held on Wednesday, 1 July from 14:00 – 15:30 CEST. Register here [ For more information, please contact .
