(AGENPARL) - Roma, 19 Giugno 2026 - Ieri Gian Luca Artizzu, Amministratore Delegato di Sogin, la Società pubblica incaricata del decommissioning degli impianti nucleari italiani, ha ricevuto Todd Smith, Vicepresidente Marketing & Business Development di Candu Energy, Società canadese del Gruppo AtkinsRéalis, specializzata nella costruzione di reattori nucleari.
La riunione, avvenuta alla presenza di Patrizia Giuliotti, Delegata Commerciale dell’Ambasciata del Canada in Italia, è stata un’occasione di confronto e di scambio di informazioni su temi legati all’innovazione e alle opportunità offerte dalle nuove tecnologie nel settore nucleare.
Particolare attenzione è stata dedicata alle competenze tecniche e ingegneristiche nella gestione dell’intero ciclo nucleare, ambito nel quale Sogin rappresenta un’eccellenza grazie all’esperienza maturata nelle attività di decommissioning degli impianti nucleari italiani e nella gestione dei materiali radioattivi.
Sogin e Candu hanno espresso la reciproca volontà di mantenere aperto il confronto e di esplorare possibili future opportunità di collaborazione nei campi dell’ingegneria avanzata, dell’innovazione tecnologica, della gestione dei materiali nucleari e della formazione specialistica.
Meeting between Sogin and Canadian company Candu, focusing on new nuclear technologies

Yesterday, Gian Luca Artizzu, CEO of Sogin, the state owned company responsible for the decommissioning of Italian nuclear facilities, met with Todd Smith, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development at Candu Energy, a Canadian company of the AtkinsRéalis Group, specializing in the construction of nuclear reactors.
The meeting, attended by Patrizia Giuliotti, Commercial Delegate of the Canadian Embassy in Italy, was an opportunity to discuss and exchange information on topics related to innovation and the opportunities offered by new technologies in the nuclear sector.
Particular attention was paid to the technical and engineering expertise in managing the entire nuclear cycle, an area in which Sogin excels thanks to its experience in the decommissioning of Italian nuclear installations and the management of radioactive materials.
Sogin and Candu expressed their mutual willingness to maintain open discussions and explore possible future collaboration opportunities in the fields of advanced engineering, technological innovation, nuclear materials management, and specialized training.
