Il Ministro del DAERA, Andrew Muir MLA, si è congratulato con i destinatari delle onorificenze conferite oggi in occasione del compleanno del Re, per il loro contributo all’agricoltura, alla pesca e al settore marittimo, all’innovazione alimentare, alla scienza e all’ingegneria ambientale.
Tra i premiati figurano Claire Vincent, vicedirettrice della divisione Marina e Pesca del DAERA, e Rosemary Agnew, ex direttrice della politica agricola del DAERA, entrambe insignite del titolo di MBE.
Il dottor Stephen Jess, ex ricercatore senior presso l’Istituto di Agroalimentare e Bioscienze, riceverà l’onorificenza di BEM (British Empire Medal).
Anche Wesley Aston, ex amministratore delegato dell’Ulster Farmers’ Union, e William Moore sono tra coloro che hanno ricevuto l’onorificenza di MBE per i servizi resi all’agricoltura.
Il professor Peter Robertson, docente di ingegneria energetica e ambientale presso la Queen’s University, e Harry Geddis, co-fondatore e co-presidente di Avondale Foods, sono stati entrambi insigniti del titolo di MBE per i servizi resi alla ricerca, all’innovazione e all’imprenditorialità.
Il ministro Muir ha dichiarato: “È davvero incoraggiante vedere che le persone che hanno dedicato anni di servizio alle comunità agricole, marittime e scientifiche dell’Irlanda del Nord vengano riconosciute.
“Tutte queste persone hanno dimostrato una leadership eccezionale e il riconoscimento che hanno ricevuto è pienamente meritato.”
“A nome del Ministero, desidero congratularmi con tutti loro e anche con tutte le altre persone che sono state insignite di onorificenze in occasione del compleanno del Re per il loro contributo alla società odierna.”

DAERA Minister congratulates Birthday Honours recipients
DAERA Minister Andrew Muir MLA has congratulated recipients of the King’s Birthday Honours who have today been recognised for their contributions to farming, marine and fisheries, food innovation, science and environmental engineering.
Among the recipients were Claire Vincent, Deputy Director of DAERA’s Marine and Fisheries Division and former DAERA Director of Agricultural Policy, Rosemary Agnew, who are both receiving MBEs.
Dr Stephen Jess, a former senior scientist at the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute, will receive a BEM.
Former Ulster Farmers’ Union chief executive Wesley Aston and William Moore are also among those receiving MBEs for services to agriculture.
Professor of Energy and Environmental Engineering, Peter Robertson of Queen’s University, and Harry Geddis, the co-founder and co-chair of Avondale Foods, have also both been awarded MBEs for services to research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Minister Muir said: “It’s really heartening to see people who have dedicated years of service to Northern Ireland’s agriculture, marine and scientific communities being recognised.
“All of these individuals have shown outstanding leadership and the recognition they have received is very well deserved.
“On behalf of the Department, I would like to congratulate them all and also all the other people who have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours for their contribution to society today.”
