(AGENPARL) - Roma, 29 Novembre 2025(AGENPARL) – Sat 29 November 2025 PRESS NOTE
Rome, November 29, 2025 – Airbus yesterday informed all airlines worldwide of the need for software
modifications for certain aircraft in the A320 family. Based on this, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency
has mandated that these modifications must be implemented by this evening.
This situation has also affected some aircraft in the ITA Airways fleet.
Since last night, ITA Airways’ technical teams have been working tirelessly to assess the actual impact of the
issue and to define the actions required to minimize any repercussions on operations in order to ensure the
safety of passengers and crews, which is the Company’s top priority.
A programme of extraordinary interventions on the affected aircraft was therefore established and launched
this morning; it is progressing as planned and will be completed within the deadline set by the Authorities.
Among the aircraft involved was also the Airbus A320neo accompanying His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on his
Apostolic Journey to Türkiye and Lebanon; the Company sent the necessary components and an additional
technician to Istanbul to carry out the software update, thus ensuring the safe continuation of the Apostolic
Journey.
Thanks to these interventions and the high professionalism of our technicians, ITA Airways’ flight schedule
will not undergo any changes and there will be no repercussions for our passengers.
