Young people for democracy: youth perspectives in action
Venice Commission plenary meeting
As usual, the plenary session is closed to the public. These opinions and texts will be published on the Venice Commission website early the following week.

Ceremony for the 35th Anniversary of the Venice Commission: the Council of Europe’s body of constitutional experts
The event will provide a unique opportunity to assess the manner in which democratic institutions have developed in Council of Europe member states and beyond over the last 35 years, to consider the achievements of the Venice Commission’s work of assistance in constitutional design, and to reflect on how to pursue democratic development in the future.
On the same day, the exhibition entitled “La Democrazia attraverso il Diritto. Dalla Serenissima Repubblica alla Commissione di Venezia del Consiglio d’Europa” (“Democracy through law: from the Serenissima Republic to the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe”) will be inaugurated (open until January 6, 2026, in Appartamenti del Doge in Palazzo Ducale).

5-8 October, Tampere, Finland (Tampere Hall/Tampere-talo, Yliopistonkatu 55) – The Council of Europe will participate, together with more than 300 speakers, at the Play the Game 2025 Conference “Driving dialogue for democracy in sport”. The conference is held in a time of growing polarisation, with the aim to keep the democratic conversation in sport alive. The 14th edition of the Play the Game will bring together journalists, researchers, athletes, whistleblowers, and decision-makers in sport from across the world to confront the issues that matter – with openness, respect, and critical thinking.
The Council of Europe will participate in the sessions: “Fighting Corruption in Sport: Achievements and Future Challenges” and “Start to talk: protecting children in sport – the importance of safe recruitment”.
7 October, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing 13 judgments concerning Azerbaijan, Estonia, Greece, Lithuania, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Türkiye.
9 October, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing 105 judgments and/or decisions concerning Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, the Republic of Moldova, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, San Marina, Serbia, Slovenia, Türkiye and Ukraine.
The monitoring team will meet the Secretary of State for Sport as well as other relevant stakeholders, such as the National Police (including the National Football Information Point), the Hungarian Football Federation and the safety officers of several clubs.

10 October, Türkiye – Presentation ceremony of the 2025 Europe Prize to the city of Gaziantep.
From 10 to 12 October, the Hellenic Transplant Organisation will organise a series of events involving ministries, EU and national health bodies and healthcare associations.
On 11 October, an international scientific conference will focus on the global and national transplantation landscape, ethical perspectives, donor-recipient experiences and strategies to increase awareness and participation.
Historical buildings in Kalamata and Athens will be illuminated in green, the official colour of the Day.
