In brief*
Preparing for wildfires and droughts in Europe. *In a debate starting at around 15:30, MEPs will discuss EU preparations for the wildfire and drought season with Commissioner Hadja Lahbib and Danish Minister Marie Bjerre.
Budapest Pride. *From around 13.00, plenary will review with Commissioner McGrath and Danish Minister Marie Bjerre lessons from Budapest Pride and the need for an EU wide anti-discrimination law and defending fundamental rights, in this session’s topical debate.
Human rights.* In evening debates with Commissioner Jozef Síkela, MEPs will discuss the cases of Ryan Cornelius, imprisoned for fraud since 2008 in Dubai; Joseph Figueira Martin, a Belgian-Portuguese researcher under arrest in the Central African Republic; and religious minorities in Syria. Three separate resolutions will be put to a vote in plenary on Thursday.
Institutional integrity*. From around 17:30, MEPs will look into the alleged misuse of funds by members of the far right and measures to ensure institutional integrity.
Votes*
At noon, MEPs will vote, among others, on:
-annual reports on progress towards EU accession for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Georgia;
-the human cost of Russia’s war against Ukraine;
-the product safety of non-EU imports;
-whether to fast-track the proposal for revision of the European Climate Law;
-measures to conserve fish stocks in relation to countries allowing non-sustainable fishing; and
-aid from the Solidarity Fund for Austria, Czechia, Poland, Slovakia, Moldova, and Bosnia and Herzegovina following floods in autumn 2024.
