As we are all aware, we are at a critical juncture for science in the United States. Recent setbacks—such as the massive funding cuts at NIH and NSF among other federal funding agencies, not to mention the current assault on research universities—present significant challenges for researchers in many fields of exploration. Yet, our shared predicament underscores the importance and timely relevance of the work we do here at the Academy.
Despite the hurdles we face, the United States remains a global leader in groundbreaking discoveries—from advancements in biomedical research and drug discovery to artificial intelligence and quantum computing. But we know we must work together to ensure that this continues.
To this end, the Academy is expanding our efforts to broaden our impact and address contemporary challenges. These efforts include launching “Shaping Science”, our new podcast series, complemented by a public event series exploring Trust in Science, covering critical topics such as Climate Change, the Misinformation Crisis, and AI among others. Science drives our economy, creates jobs, and addresses some of the most pressing issues of our time—affirming that hope and progress are inherently linked.
The Academy’s greatest strength lies in your partnership, active engagement, and unwavering commitment to the support of science to advance the public good. Your support makes all the difference.
