IAEA Director General Visits Syria
IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi visited Syria on 4-5 June for meetings with President Ahmed Al-Sharaa and senior government officials, as a result of which the Director General and IAEA safeguards inspectors today had immediate and unrestricted access to a site in the country relevant to clarifying its past nuclear activities. During his meetings in Damascus, Director General Grossi said that clarifying these issues remains essential for Syria to demonstrate its commitment to nuclear non-proliferation and international peace and security.
