For research, inspiration and enjoyment
As the first spring days transform grey skies into blue, we’re seeing our own exciting changes.
We’re sharing new medieval manuscripts online, inviting families to take over our Entrance Hall and, most importantly, progressing plans to expand our London site. Catch up on how we’re transforming our St Pancras building below.
Get ready for our transformation
Alongside a proposed new home in Leeds ( https://britishlibraryemails.bl.uk/c/AQiz6A8Qh913GOmfuwUgiPHEGwWBXFMlIHb-C8YLtaNMznxbpMKCygLFiv7KHtaAQxHn ) and major updates to our Boston Spa campus ( https://britishlibraryemails.bl.uk/c/AQiz6A8Qh913GOmfuwUgifHEG50ULbnRoE4IBF9rrX_zbJG8inxtaWJbbQ4Xy0vDAHeR ), we’re moving ahead with groundbreaking plans to transform our St Pancras site. This multi-purpose extension will include new spaces for exhibitions, events, learning, research and business support, and enable us to deliver new programmes too.

Let your imagination take flight
True Lovers Knot. The Uncertain. The Suspected. These might sound like film noir titles but they’re names of British moths. With numbers in decline and many species endangered, artist Tracey Bush set out to document an A-Z of British moths in her 3D book Dusk. This is one of the many extraordinary artists’ books you can see for free in a special display in our Treasures Gallery ( https://britishlibraryemails.bl.uk/c/AQiz6A8Qh913GOmfuwUgjvHEG_xehSw4QUfsbv2h0uq-XVdGe4dkfn99oItZ41A1r2Kg ) at St Pancras.

Unveiling history
Did you know library services often hold special collections that contain materials closely related to a region’s history and culture? LibraryOn’s story of Nottingham’s lace industry, with support from Nottingham City Libraries, illustrates how the lace craft became an industry central to the British Empire’s growth.
