Agenparl recently published in full the agreement between A.C. and the majority shareholders of Queens Park Rangers (QPR) with the law firm DLA Piper. The purpose of the agreement was to secure the defence against the law firm Mishcon de Reya and lawyer Kevin Steel, who allegedly failed to comply with the instructions given by the QPR attorney general’s office.
The legal agreement was structured with the ‘No Win No Fee’ formula, a contractual model widespread in the Anglo-Saxon legal system that provides for the payment of fees only in case of victory. The criteria for the distribution of values in the event of a successful outcome were also defined, involving not only the insurance company and the law firm, but also the investor and other interested parties.
However, although the investor was actively involved in the process, the outcome of the case was not favourable. This once again highlighted the difficulties that an Italian citizen can face in the British legal system, where obtaining justice can be particularly difficult.
