Enilive e easyJet siglano due accordi per l’approvvigionamento di SAF in Italia
· easyJet impiegherà carburante sostenibile per l’aviazione fornito da Enilive su alcune rotte da Milano Malpensa beneficiando del SAF Support Program 2024 promosso da SEA
· Enilive ed easyJet siglano inoltre una lettera di intenti per l’acquisto, tra il 2025 e il 2030, di circa 30.000 tonnellate di SAF in purezza prodotto da Enilive da impiegare nelle operazioni di easyJet in Italia
Londra (Regno Unito) – Roma (Italia), 3 dicembre 2024 – Enilive, società dedicata ai prodotti e ai servizi per la mobilità, annuncia oggi un nuovo accordo con easyJet, la compagnia aerea leader in Europa, per rifornire alcuni voli in partenza dall’aeroporto di Milano Malpensa con carburante sostenibile per l’aviazione (Sustainable Aviation Fuel – SAF).
L’acquisto da parte di easyJet di SAF in purezza miscelato al 20% con il jet convenzionale permette alla compagnia aerea di soddisfare il proprio fabbisogno per i voli sulle due nuove rotte verso la Norvegia (Malpensa-Oslo e Malpensa-Tromsø) durante la stagione invernale. Inoltre, la compagnia beneficerà del SAF Support Program 2024 di SEA, che ha previsto un contributo di 800€/ton ai Vettori che nel corso dell’anno utilizzano questo carburante sugli scali milanesi, per un valore complessivo di 500.000€.
Enilive ed easyJet hanno inoltre firmato una Lettera di Intenti per una potenziale fornitura aggiuntiva di circa 30.000 tonnellate di SAF Enilive in purezza in altri aeroporti italiani in cui la compagnia opera.
L’accordo fa seguito a una serie di recenti impegni assunti da easyJet per contribuire a stimolare la crescita del mercato dei SAF. All’inizio di questo mese, la compagnia aerea, insieme al partner Airbus, ha lanciato una nuova soluzione per i viaggi d’affari che esplorerà la possibilità di avviare partnership con le aziende per finanziare l’uso del SAF con l’obiettivo di minimizzarne l’impatto economico e rendendo quindi questa soluzione più accessibile.
Inoltre, alla fine di ottobre easyJet è entrata ufficialmente nel Progetto SkyPower, un’alleanza tra CEO che si pone l’obiettivo di accelerare la crescita dell’industria dell’e-SAF, facilitando le decisioni finali di investimento per i progetti e-SAF in Europa.
Il SAF costituisce uno strumento fondamentale, già disponibile oggi, per supportare il percorso di decarbonizzazione del trasporto aereo e in futuro avrà un ruolo sempre più rilevante. Nelle bioraffinerie in Italia, Enilive lavora prevalentemente materie prime di scarto come oli esausti da cucina, grassi animali e residui dell’industria agroalimentare per produrre il SAF, che contiene il 100% di componente biogenica e che è idoneo ad essere utilizzato in miscela con il jet convenzionale fino al 50%. Enilive dal 2025 raggiungerà una capacità di produzione di SAF in purezza pari a 400.000 tonnellate l’anno, grazie all’imminente avvio del nuovo impianto nella bioraffineria di Gela, e successivamente aumenterà la capacità della produzione di SAF fino a 1 milione di tonnellate l’anno entro il 2026 con un ulteriore potenziale raddoppio entro il 2030.
Stefano Ballista, Amministratore Delegato di Enilive, ha dichiarato: “Oggi il SAF è la soluzione già disponibile per contribuire alla decarbonizzazione del trasporto aereo. In futuro, a seguito dell’applicazione del regolamento ReFuelEU dell’Unione Europea, che prevede il progressivo aumento dell’immissione del SAF in purezza fino al 70% al 2050, sarà sempre più significativa la richiesta da parte di operatori come easyJet, cui va il merito di aver precorso i tempi avviando già oggi l’utilizzo del nostro SAF. Per soddisfare le esigenze del mercato, stiamo sviluppando nuovi progetti di bioraffinazione in Italia e all’estero.”

London (U.K.) – Rome (Italy), 3 December 2024 – Today Enilive, a company dedicated to mobility services and products, announces a new agreement with easyJet, Europe’s leading airline, to supply a number of flights from Milan Malpensa Airport with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The SAF purchased by easyJet, which has a purity of 20% and is blended with conventional jet, enables the airline to meet its requirements for flights on its two new routes to Norway (Malpensa-Oslo and Malpensa-Tromsø) over the winter season. Furthermore, the airline will benefit from SEA’s SAF Support Program 2024, which has provided a contribution of €800/ton to carriers that use this fuel at Milan’s airports during the year, with a total value of €500,000.
Enilive and easyJet have also signed a Letter of Intent for a potential additional supply of about 30,000 tonnes of pure Enilive SAF at other Italian airports where the airline operates.
The agreement follows a series of recent commitments easyJet has made to help stimulate growth of the SAF market. Earlier this month the airline, alongside its partner Airbus, launched a new business travel solution that will explore corporate partnerships to finance the use of SAF with the goal of minimizing their economic impact and thus making this solution more affordable.
In addition, at the end of October easyJet formally joined Project SkyPower, CEO-led consortium aiming to accelerate the growth of the eSAF industry by helping unlock Final Investment Decisions for e-SAF projects in Europe.
SAF is a key tool, that is already available, to support the decarbonization path of aviation, and it will play an increasingly relevant role in the future. In its biorefineries in Italy, Enilive processes mainly waste feedstocks such as used cooking oil, animal fats, and agribusiness residues to produce SAF, which contains 100% biogenic component and is suitable to be blended with conventional jet up to 50%. From 2025, Enilive will reach a pure SAF production capacity of 400,000 tons/year, thanks to the imminent startup of the first plant in the Gela biorefinery, and thereafter the company will increase its SAF production to 1 million tons/year by 2026 with a further potential doubling by 2030.

To meet the market needs, we are developing new biorefining projects in Italy and abroad.”
