(AGENPARL) - Roma, 11 Novembre 2024 - (AGENPARL) – lun 11 novembre 2024 Innovative Approaches to Climate Change Mitigation:
Solar Radiation Management and Actions for
Mission Innovation’s Green Powered Future for Africa
Organised by RSE SpA
with the support of the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security
Wednesday 13 November 2024, 17:30-19:00, Italian Pavilion
?About the event
Session 1: Solar Radiation Management through Albedo Enhancement
and Monitoring for Climate Change Mitigation
This module will discuss new developments related to albedo-enhancement systems (AES). The
event will focus on the status, prospects and potential of three aspects or dimensions of AES:
Satellite and ground measurement and monitoring of terrestrial albedo.
Albedo-enhancement systems for building and agriculture applications.
Novel materials with potential applications for high-albedo systems and their optic-energy
characterization
The event is aimed at increasing awareness on the potential of AES in the fight against climate
change and will place strong emphasis on the role of research and innovation in deploying
these techniques.
This first module – organised by RSE in cooperation with the CIRIAF of the University of Perugia
and the Italian Space Agency – will consist of a conference of 7 presentations and will be
chaired by RSECEO Prof. Franco Cotana.
Session 2: Actions for Mission Innovation’s Green Powered Future for Africa
This module will be an important opportunity to present the recent achievements of Mission
Innovation Green Powered Future Mission (GPFM), a public-private partnership with 28 members
from MI countries, private sector companies and international organisations, regarding Flagship
Project 1 “5 demos in five continents” and Flagship Project 2 “Multilateral Research programme”.
In particular, the Mission will highlight the release of the “first round” of the Technical Factsheets
on selected innovation priorities, which represents a highly collaborative activity of the Mission,
gathering contributions from several of its coalition members. The GPFM will also promote the
launch of the second joint call module in cooperation with the Clean Energy Transition
Partnership (CET Partnership), which aims to increase opportunities for international
cooperation towards the implementation of the GPFM Flagship Project 2.
Moreover, the event will feature contributions from several international representatives on GPFM
Innovation Priorities relevant to Africa and the Global South regions, as well as the foreseen joint
activity with the Urban Transitions Mission on isolated local communities. Finally, the GPFM will
release the GPFM Annual Report 2024, an informative document that gathers the main
achievements
