Home working guidance and resources
Employers have the same health and safety responsibilities for people working at home as for any other worker

Construction firm fined as worker dies in fall
The company were fined £285,000 after a worker was fatally injured in a 10 metre fall while installing cladding
Another worker was injured in the incident – he sustained injuries to his spine and broken ribs.
The incident happened when they were working in a scissor lift, which was pushed over by a nearby crane. HSE’s investigation into the fall found:
* the incident could have been prevented if the firm had implemented better controls and put in place better communication between contractors
* there was no lift supervisor present at the time of the incident

Recognising contributions to reducing musculoskeletal risk?
*HSE’s annual musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) Risk-reduction through design awards are now open for nominations*
The most recent statistics show that approximately 6.6 million working days are lost in Great Britain due to work-related MSDs [ https://www.hse.gov.uk/msd/index.htm?utm_source=govdelivery&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=msd-awards&utm_term=msd-1&utm_content=digest-19-sep-24 ].
If you are an employer in the UK, and you have made design changes that have reduced musculoskeletal risks in your workplace, then nominate yourself for the awards.
Any UK employer can enter and there is an additional award category for small and medium sized businesses (up to 250 employees).
