Push to allow Ukraine to use EU weapons on Russian territory*
At noon, MEPs will vote on a draft resolution urging EU countries to lift restrictions on the use of Western weapons systems delivered to Ukraine against legitimate military targets on Russian territory. They will also call for the maintaining and expansion of EU sanctions against Russia and Belarus, and against China, Iran and North Korea for their support of Russia’s illegitimate war effort.

Response to the political turmoil in Venezuela after the elections*
In a vote at noon, MEPs are expected to call on the Venezuelan authorities to respect the results of the 28 July elections and to release the official ballot data. A draft text on which MEPs will vote urges the EU to recognise Edmundo González as president and calls on the EU and member states to request an international arrest warrant for Maduro for crimes against humanity.

The impact of droughts and extreme weather on EU’s agriculture*
From 9.00, MEPs will discuss with Commissioner Wojciechowski the threat posed by droughts and extreme weather events to communities and EU agriculture in a changing climate.

Apple tax ruling*
Plenary will debate with Commissioner Kyriakides and Hungary’s Minister for EU Affairs János Bóka last week’s European Court of Justice judgement which defined Ireland’s tax arrangements with Apple as illegal state aid.

At noon, MEPs will vote, among others, on:
the devastating floods in Central and Eastern Europe, the loss of life, and the EU’s preparedness to act; the deteriorating situation of women in Afghanistan due to the recent adoption of the law on the “Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice”; the severe situation of political prisoners in Belarus; the case of José Daniel Ferrer García in Cuba, and an agreement with the US setting forth security procedures for the launch of Galileo satellites from U.S. territory.
