CUT Celebrates the 2024 Spring Graduations
On 06 September 2024, the Central University of Technology (CUT) celebrated the achievement of 695 graduates who walked the aisle to receive their well-deserved qualifications. These graduates represented a diverse range of disciplines and backgrounds, with 39 being master’s and 28 being PhD. This marked the highest number of doctorates awarded in a single graduation ceremony in the university’s history, showcasing our commitment to inclusivity and global impact.
Prof. Pamela Dube, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, applauded the exceptional leadership within the Faculty of Management Sciences and commended Prof. Albert Strydom, Dean of Faculty, and Prof. Dennis Dzansi, Director of Entrepreneurship Development Unit (CUT-EDU), for their efforts in strengthening international partnerships. “Our collaboration with universities in Ghana has been instrumental in creating opportunities for our university. We proudly conferred 13 PhDs from the Faculty of Management Sciences alone.”
Prof. Dube also highlighted the university’s 20 years of growth, innovation, and significant impact. Since its declaration as a University of Technology in 2004, the university has produced approximately 66,000 graduates, demonstrating its substantial contribution to the province and the country.
Prof Dube further congratulated the PhD recipients, with special recognition to Dr. Itumeleng Phage, also a Council member. She expressed confidence in the graduates’ potential to positively impact the world.
“As you embark on your professional journey, this university will forever remain your intellectual home, providing opportunities for demand-driven postgraduate programmes. With the valuable skills you have acquired, tailored to meet societal needs, your communities eagerly await your input, energy, and expertise. Your role is crucial, and we believe in your ability to contribute significantly to uplifting your communities. Our commitment to your success extends far beyond this day. Wherever you go, always remember where you come from,” she said.
