Get Ready… May is Bike Month!
May is Bike Month is back this May for its 20th year!
This May, you can contribute to the effort to make the Sacramento Region a better place to ride a bike, help combat climate change and, of course, have fun!
During May is Bike Month, hop on your bike to celebrate and promote the countless benefits that bike riding can bring. Every time you enjoy a bike ride, log it on your Love to Ride profile to participate.
Hop on your bikes, join a community, learn new bike skills, and win prizes!

The 2024 Sacramento Bikeway User Map is Here!
The updated 2024 Sacramento Bikeway User Map has arrived! It includes newly constructed and upcoming bikeways throughout the City of Sacramento.
Use it for trip planning to see which bikeways can be used to reach your destinations according to your comfort level.
The Sacramento Bikeway Map is available to view online. The Transportation Planning team will also be giving out free printed bike maps at community events our team is attending.

New Bike Racks at Tallac Village Shopping Center!
The City of Sacramento has provided over 7,000 bike parking spaces citywide. Most of these spaces reside in the Central City on public right-of-way (streets, landscape strips, sidewalks).
In areas outside of the Central City, it is difficult to install bike parking because of limited public right-of-way, smaller sidewalks, and limited or no landscape strips.
In an effort to increase bike parking availability outside of the Central City; support small, local businesses; encourage more trips by bicycle; and make equitable investments, City staff have launched a small pilot program to install bike parking on private property at neighborhood serving retail centers in under resourced communities. The Tallac Village Shopping Center is the first installation of City racks on private property.
A total of ten bicycle racks were installed to allow people bicycling to lock up their bikes securely while shopping or dining at Tallac Village.
City staff are hosting an event to celebrate the first pilot installation:

Urban Bicycling & Scooting 101 Class &Sacramento State University Tabling
Getting ready to ride in May and this summer? Take our free bicycling and scooting class.
What is the Urban Bicycling and Scooter 101 Class?
The Urban Bicycling and Scooting 101 Class offers online and in-person opportunities for any individual to brush up on bicycling and scooting safety and laws. No bike is needed to join.

The City of Sacramento is Getting a Website Redesign.
The City of Sacramento has launched a redesigned version of its website to better inform and serve residents. Redesign gives the City an opportunity to modernize the site’s technology, improve user experience, and increase security.Our new website improves on our prior one in many ways. The City can install bicycle racks or shared-rideable drop zones in the public right-of-way where there is a demonstrated need.
