*Flexible Working Toolkit *
From 6th April 2024, all employees, including those in education settings, will have the right to request flexible working from day one of a new job. If an employer is considering rejecting a flexible working request, they will now be required to consult with the employee, which can help ensure that all relevant information is understood before a decision is made.
The Flexible Working Toolkit, produced by DfE’s Flexible Working Ambassador Schools with support from other sector experts [ https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/65156f9b6dfda6000d8e37da/Toolkit_experts.pdf?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ], can support you to:
* Increase your understanding and awareness of flexible working in schools, including its benefits.
* Develop and implement a flexible working policy.
* Help you to request flexible working.

Staff wellbeing
There are a range of resources available to school leaders to support wellbeing:
* School leaders can continue to access free one-to-one professional supervision through a DfE funded scheme delivered by the Education Support charity [ https://www.educationsupport.org.uk/get-help/help-for-your-staff/wellbeing-services/school-and-fe-leaders-service/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]. The professional supervision enables leaders to work with qualified and experienced supervisors to develop strategies to support their mental wellbeing.
* Your school or college mental health lead can also claim a grant [ https://onlinecollections.des.fasst.org.uk/fastform/senior-mental-health-leads?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] to fund their training to embed an effective whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing [ https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/promoting-children-and-young-peoples-emotional-health-and-wellbeing?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ].
