Bedding manufacturer fined after workers suffer serious injuries [ https://press.hse.gov.uk/2024/02/14/bedding-manufacturer-fined-after-employees-suffer-serious-injuries/?utm_source=govdelivery&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=press-channels-push&utm_term=bedding-headline&utm_content=digest-22-jan-24 ]
The company has been fined more than £250,000 after 2 of its workers were seriously injured during separate incidents.
Both workers had to undergo amputations following the incidents, which were described by HSE’s inspector as ‘serious and avoidable’.
It was found that the company did not:
* guard the machinery
* implement suitable and sufficient procedures to isolate machinery from power

The latest figures show that 27 people were killed [ https://www.hse.gov.uk/agriculture/resources/fatal.htm?utm_source=govdelivery&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=agriculture-transport&utm_term=ag-1&utm_content=digest-22-feb-24 ] as a result of farming and other agriculture-related activities during 2022/23.
