Today, the U.S. Department of State, in collaboration with the Institute of International Education (IIE), released the annual Open Doors Report. According to the Open Doors data, the United States was once again the top destination for international study in the 2022-2023 academic year, and more than 1 million international students studied at U.S. colleges and universities for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Open Doors data also provides insights into the American students’ participation in study abroad programs in the 2021-2022 academic year. To learn more about the Open Doors data, visit the IIE website [ https://opendoorsdata.org/ ].
In addition to the Open Doors Report, the Department will highlight key aspects of international education throughout the week, including: #StudyWithUS engagement efforts to recruit international students to study in the United States; the U.S. Government’s efforts to expand partnership with other countries for international education programs to help innovate and push global society forward; and alumni of international educational exchange who have gone on to be impactful both in their communities and countries.
