Rome, 18 September 2023 – Italian power grid operator Terna, led by Giuseppina Di Foggia,
reaffirms its status as a global sustainability leader.
This is the 13th consecutive year that the company has been listed in the “STOXX Global ESG
Leaders” index and in the specific “Environmental Leaders”, “Social Leaders” and “ESG
Governance Leaders” indices. These indices – managed by the company Qontigo, part of the
Deutsche Börse Group – select the world’s best STOXX Global 1800-listed companies based on
their ESG best practices.
Sustainability is a strategic driver for Terna, underpinning its every activity. And it was its first-class
performance across all ESG areas that secured the company a place in this prestigious
international index.
The STOXX ESG indices’ transparent selection criteria are based on a rating model provided by
Sustainalytics, which assesses companies against multiple indicators. In its latest assessment,
Sustainalytics once again placed Terna in the best rating class, called ‘Negligible risk’. This puts
the Italian power grid operator at the top of the global “Electric Utilities” sector.
Furthermore, Terna recently also reaffirmed its ‘AAA’ rating – the highest possible attributed by the
rating company MSCI – for its outstanding ESG practices.
Terna’s leadership in sustainability is also evidenced by the presence of the company in the major
ESG indices, including the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index,
Euronext Vigeo, FTSE4Good, S&P Global 1200 ESG, MIB ESG, ECPI and the GLIO/GRESB ESG
Index.
