(AGENPARL) – ven 01 settembre 2023 PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Spring Graduation goes ahead as planned
The CUT management condemns the attempted disruption of the Spring 2023 Graduation Ceremony earlier this morning by a group of students. A Senate resolution had been reached a week ago with the student leadership to conduct another graduation ceremony to accommodate the students who had yet to submit outstanding compliance documents by the time of the deadline. Unfortunately, the communication was sent after some students did not welcome the Senate resolution. Attempts this morning to assure the group that there is another date set for graduations did not assist; they continued to block the graduation procession from getting into the hall where the graduating students, their parents and relatives were seated, waiting for the ceremony to start.
The CUT management regrets the inconvenience and late start of the ceremony. It wishes to assure our guests, parents, partners, employees, alumni, and students that, despite the actions of the disgruntled students outside the Boet Troskie hall this morning, the management will continue to uphold compliance and credibility of the quality of our qualifications, as well as solid educational values. The university is grateful for the patience our graduating students and guests demonstrated today and is very happy that the graduation took place in its full ceremonial custom.
On behalf of the university, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the guests, staff, students, especially parents and family members who travelled far to be here to celebrate the achievements of their loved ones. Graduation ceremonies are indeed a very important event for all our stakeholders, especially the students and their loved ones; we will continue to engage the student leadership and the students who were unhappy with the continuation of today’s long-scheduled ceremony on the university calendar. It would have been unfair to the graduating students who met all the compliance requirements, and we encourage those who still need to submit their documents to do so as planned for the next ceremony.
Yours sincerely
CUT management.
