High-Level Ministerial Event: Transforming agrifood systems to increase resilience and achieve the 2030 Agenda | Harnessing the potential of Small Island Developing States, Least Developed Countries and Landlocked Developing Countries – FAO Headquarters, Rome, 29 June 2023
The FAO-organized event will bring together over 30 Ministers and other high-level officials to discuss how agrifood systems transformation will help to scale up resilience for more sustainable and inclusive development
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will hold a High-Level Ministerial event on harnessing the potential of Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) to transform their agrifood systems to increase resilience and achieve the 2023 Agenda.
Ministers, Vice-Ministers and other high-level officials from nearly 60 countries are expected to attend, exchanging experiences and good practices and working out effective problem-solving strategies.
The meeting will be held at the FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy, on June 29 at 09:00 CEST (Rome time).
Participants include Ministers, Vice-Ministers and high level representatives from:
Afghanistan, Antigua and Barbuda, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Barbados, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Cook Islands, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Grenada, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Kyrgyzstan, Lesotho, Madagascar, Marshall Islands, Mauritania, Maldives, Micronesia, Republic of Moldova, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Palau, Paraguay, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Sudan, Tajikistan, Togo, Tonga, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Yemen.
FAO Director-General QU Dongyu will deliver opening and closing remarks.
UN High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States<https://www.un.org/ohrlls/> Rabab Fatima and UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs LI Junhua will deliver video messages.
