The Week Ahead: Key Events and Meetings – 24-30 April 2023
PACE Spring session
In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, the Assembly will debate a report on political strategies to prevent, prepare for, and face the consequences of natural disasters.
On the #RoadToReykjavik, there is also a request for a current affairs debate on the fourth Council of Europe Summit (Reykjavik, 16-17 May 2023). Síofra O’Leary, President of the European Court of Human Rights, will deliver a statement during this debate.

MONEYVAL member states to discuss next steps in combatting money laundering and terrorism financing
The ministers are expected to adopt a political declaration and to endorse MONEYVAL’s strategy for 2023-2027.
Only the opening and closing sessions will be open to the media, under prior accreditation.

25 April, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing one judgment concerning Armenia.
The round table will be opened by Isabelle Rosabrunetto, Director General of Monaco’s Department of External Relations and Cooperation, Bertil Cottier, Vice-President of ECRI, and Marina Ceyssac, Monaco’s High Commissioner for the Protection of Rights, Freedoms and Mediation.
Media representatives are invited to follow the opening of the event from 9 to 9.20 am. Interviews can be organised, upon prior request, during the lunch break.
25 April, Nicosia – The Council of Europe, the EU and the Ministry of Interior will present a guidance document “Blueprint for multilevel governance of intercultural integration policies in the Republic of Cyprus” at a national workshop organised to explore ways to strengthen dialogue between the national and local levels, including civil society.
The presentation will take place at the opening of the first Local Steering Committee meeting of this new partnership phase.
Only the opening session (from 9.30 to 10 a.m. Chisinau time) will be open to media, upon prior accreditation by noon on 25 April.
27 April, Strasbourg – The European Court of Human Rights will notify in writing 11 judgments and/or decisions concerning Azerbaijan, Germany, Italy, Russia and Slovakia.
The conference will focus on the following themes: Men and boys as agents of change; Negative impacts of social norms and gender stereotypes; Men and gender equality in care and Role of men and boys in combating violence.
