Did you know that Europe’s first Chinatown was in Liverpool? Or that London’s first Chinatown was in Limehouse? How about the fact that the first recorded visit from China to the UK was in 1687? His name was Shen Fuzong. The picture above is a map he drew of the major cities and rivers in China.
Our free exhibition explores the vibrant history of Chinese communities in the UK, told through the stories of the remarkable individuals who lived through it.
