The Library of Congress is accepting applications for a Research Assistant (Temporary Position), GS-09, until February 13, 2023.
The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Resources, Science and Industry Division (RSI) is seeking one Research Assistant. The Agriculture and Food Supply Section within RSI provides policy analysis to Members of Congress, congressional committees, and their staff on topics related to the policy and economic implications of agriculture and food policy in key areas including domestic agricultural support, agricultural disaster assistance, agricultural markets, international trade, agricultural conservation, farm credit and disaster assistance, farm economy, and rural development.
Responsibilities:
The selectees for this temporary position will serve as a Research Assistant in the Agriculture and Food Supply Section within RSI. The information produced by this division is considered to be authoritative and objective for federal policymakers. It is consulted widely by lawmakers and their staff seeking accurate, objective information on and analysis of policy issues addressing federal land management agencies, extractive industries, and management of living and nonliving resources, often in the water context.
The Research Assistant may in consultation with an analyst or independently collect and present policy-relevant information for use by analysts and congressional clients to inform their analysis and understanding of policy issues before the U.S. Congress. The Research Assistant may also identify, enter, and verify data for inclusion in CRS written products. The Research Assistant is expected to respond to RSI’s shifting needs and priorities, as directed.

Requirements:
The position requires two years of progressively higher level appropriate graduate education leading to a Master’s degree OR, a Master’s or equivalent graduate degree, OR, one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level in the federal service or at a comparable level of difficulty outside the federal service.
Anticipated Start Date: Early to mid-March, 2023.
