On behalf of the United States of America, I reaffirm our commitment to the people of Burma as they mark the 75th Anniversary of Burma’s independence on January 4.
The United States has long supported the people of Burma and their ability to chart their own future. Today, Burma’s military regime stands in the way of democratic progress and the will of the people. The military’s brutal and horrific campaign of violence has nevertheless failed to overcome the strong commitment of the people of Burma to forge an inclusive and democratic country. We stand in solidarity with the people of Burma in their determination to bring democracy to their country. The military regime must end its violence, release those unjustly detained, allow unhindered humanitarian access, and recognize the desire of the people for a genuine and inclusive democracy in Burma.

Per il sindacalista, se pur lo studio ha evidenziato che il dato di previsione trimestrale conferma la ripresa in corso rispetto allanalogo periodo del 2021, le assunzioni saliranno, dove anche lindustria ricerca operai specializzati e il 57 dei nuovi contratti sar a tempo determinato, il 21 a tempo indeterminato, per lUgl Matera registriamo un nuovo campanello dallarme sul fronte fallimenti Pmi in controtendenza nazionale per il numero delle imprese lucane costrette a portare i libri in tribunale per chiudere lattivit con il secondo semestre 2022 che segna un incremento, attestando ancora la Basilicata con il valore il pi alto tra le regioni italiane. Per tale motivo da Matera prosegue Giordano parte una richiesta Ugl al Presidente Bardi di aprire un tavolo istituzionale perch la provincia vive una stagnazione del mercato del lavoro, con elevati livelli di disoccupazione che possono causare danni strutturali alleconomia. Il sistema socio economico del territorio Materano si incancrenito in una fase molto difficile in conseguenza della crisi economica e sociale. Da ormai troppo tempo si assiste agli effetti di un preoccupante processo di delocalizzazione sia della produzione made in Italy che dei siti produttivi. Come territorio materano ci eravamo illusi di vedere fiorire la Zes ma, lacci e laccioli vedono solo proclami senza esito. Dalle Zone Economiche Speciali le imprese gi operative o di nuovo insediamento possono beneficiare attraverso listituzione di zone dotate di straordinarie agevolazioni fiscali e burocratico-amministrative, attrarre nuovi investitori esterni funzionali, al mantenimento ed al rafforzamento del tessuto produttivo e commerciale del territorio. Basti pensare a quante cattedrali nel deserto ci sono nella Val Basento, nel metapontino, a Policoro, Scanzano, Nova Siri, insieme allo spopolamento delle aree interne materane. Allora aggiunge Giordano per lUgl necessita ancora crederci nel fare sistema per la Zes Jonica e lo sviluppo lucano, non perdendo altro tempo su temi come incentivi, promozione di impresa per rendere appetibili i territori. Tante le priorit per far decollare la Zes in Basilicata sono state suggerite dallUgl, tra cui la riduzione della tassazione sul costo del lavoro e sugli utili di impresa, la riduzione dellonere di trasporto, insieme allincremento della produttivit delle infrastrutture dedicate alle operazioni di handling, derivante dalla riduzione dei tempi operativi e delle procedure doganali. Inoltre, sviluppare unanalisi di impatto della regolamentazione ad ampio spettro. E allora per lUgl occorre puntare sulle priorit cominciando dalle infrastrutture e dalla logistica per superare il gap infrastrutturale e rendere attrattivo per le aziende insediarsi nel Mezzogiorno. Ma occorre non perdere altro tempo ha concluso Giordano , lUgl Matera pronta a dare il suo contributo collaborativo per far partire la Zes in una regione che ha sete di vero cambiamento.
