As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, over 80% of the Copyright Society’s expenditures support our programming. Your donation will help to ensure that our inclusive environment for the passionate discussion and exploration of copyright issues continues to thrive and remains accessible to all. Many nonprofits run almost entirely on donations, gifts, grants, and, in some cases, an operating reserve or endowment. In our case, facing a challenging environment for income from membership and events, and with many expenses fixed, we need to develop a philanthropic base to help tide us over and provide additional funds to ensure that we can continue to deliver the sophisticated programming and welcoming environment that sets the Copyright Society apart.
As part of this year’s fundraising effort, the Copyright Society will be supporting [Pajama Program](https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001dOZI2If7GGEXPkELuocWu-IlKodainJremv4Sghb69rs-r6sraz9z5jDTImv2KiLLj_dfS3ET6VBXUArNnqNQVBj7QgmN_xPvNeEzAxS6iA-3nYXY7l9vsLdnr9lJ-FLNadzlffJ-Y_190UDvWLQ4Q==&c=-HFzQzJJPKUZ5HjhtpLy3Y_zOQOLxFHF6AhNaVifhQK2msnHeXD8dw==&ch=qQ2w2O-z9AqDwG5unV8_lKUYIn6QCFPQ_DSFMCCvAfKWCRi33zuYWQ==) and its campaign to provide One Million Good Nights for children experiencing housing instability, economic insecurity, and familial instability. Pajama Program provides children and their caregivers with cozy pajamas and story books—the tools they need for a comforting bedtime. A comforting bedtime routine, and the healthy sleep that follows, can reduce anxiety, build resilience, and prepare children to do well in school. Sleep also helps strengthen the immune system and protect against illness.
At the Copyright Society, we believe every child has the right to a comforting bedtime routine shared with a loving caregiver. But not every child receives the support they need. So, for every $25 donated, the Copyright Society will also donate a book to Pajama Program. We hope to enhance the lives of children by donating at least 500 books by the end of the year.
