(AGENPARL) – lun 12 dicembre 2022 The lead of the scientific society has been assigned from the Assembly of Members to the Department’s Director of Orthopedics and Traumatology of San Bortolo Hospital in Vicenza
Dr Alberto Momoli, born in Verona in 1957, is the new President of the Italian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology for the two-year period 2022-24. He will be assisted by a new Board of Directors consisting of two vice presidents: Dr Sebastiano Cudoni and Prof. Pietro Randelli; assisted by two Councilors: Dr Gaetano Bruno, Dr Massimo Candela, Prof. Olimpio Galasso, Prof. Giuseppe Milano, Dr Norberto Negri, Prof. Rocco Papalia, Prof. Cosimo Tudisco e Prof. Luigi Zagra. The Board of Auditors is made of: Dr Alessandro Masini, Dr Fabrizio Rivera e Prof. Pietro Ruggieri.
A packed ordinary Assembly of members, gathered at Centro Congressi Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria on the occasion of the 105° SIOT National Congress, heard the speech of the newly-elected President whom firstly thanked Prof. Lanfranco Del Sasso and Prof. Giuseppe Sessa. The first one for encouraging him more than ten years ago to get involved with the scientific Society and the second one for initiating a process of reconciliation between the academic and the healthcare world which happened to misunderstand each other in the past. Heartfelt thanks were also given to the two past Presidents, Prof. Francesco Falez and Prof. Paolo Tranquillo Leali, for guiding the Society in the past difficult years.
The new SIOT President Dr Alberto Momoli tracked his program guidelines during his effective and concrete speech: â??We always looked at SIOT with great respect while also feeling a bit of reverential fear. The world, though, has now changed and with it the Orthopedic world also has to â?? Dr Alberto Momoli clarifies â?? â??The Society needs to maintain the scientific and divulgative prerogatives for which it was born, while also continuing to be the point of reference of the Italian Orthopedists and Traumatologists, but it needs to be capable of adapting to these changes with all the resources at its disposalâ?.
The Siot Safe collective protection system will need to continue since â??in its initial phase perhaps it has not been properly understood but it represents an essential weapon to defend our continuously attacked categoryâ?. Dr Momoli also highlighted how the Siot Safe project not only represents an instrument of individual protection but also a precious database regarding our work.
Another topic the President touched upon concerns the Societyâ??s relationship with the affiliated super-specialized Societies, which are SIOTâ??s main strength and which express, each one in its area of interest, a huge ability in scientific elaboration. â??However, too often the conference activities and the topics overlap with each other. Even though it is a difficult task, I believe the times have now ripened for a change. SIOT is not competing against the super-specialized Societies but rather it needs to start a relationship of mutual collaboration with themâ? â?? Dr Momoli explains.
In the new biennium, the President will assign specific proxies to the Board of Directors, so that everyone can work towards specific goals.
His conclusions are aimed towards the new generations: â??it is necessary to protect and guide the new interns and the young specialists in their training through heavily involving them in the Society activitiesâ? â?? Dr Momoli affirmed.
