On Tuesday, Parliament endorsed the nomination of Ms Keit Pentus-Rosimannus from Estonia to join the European Court of Auditors.
447 MEPs voted in favour of Ms Pentus-Rosimannus’ candidacy, 98 against, and 87 abstained.
Keit Pentus-Rosimannus, who was nominated by the Estonian government, has served as Estonian minister of Finance, Environment and Foreign Affairs. She is also a former member of the Estonian Parliament.
Next steps
The final decision on Ms Pentus-Rosimannus’ appointment will be taken by EU member states.
Background
The [EU Treaty](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A12016E286) allows each member state to propose a candidate for the [European Court of Auditors](http://www.eca.europa.eu/en/Pages/ecadefault.aspx). Member states collectively, after consulting Parliament, appoint a nominee for a six-year term. The mandate of the previous Estonian member of the ECA Juhan Parts expires on 31 December 2022.
