City of Toronto accepting applications from Indigenous groups and collectives for new capacity-building grant
The City of Toronto is now accepting applications for its new capacity-building grant for Indigenous-led collectives and grassroots groups. Groups can apply for one grant of up to $20,000, with a total of $450,000 available funding in 2022.
Administered by the City’s Indigenous Affairs Office (IAO), these capacity-building grants may be used by Indigenous-led organizations to create new projects, enhance existing programs or improve the organization’s operations. All projects must be completed by the end of 2023.
To be eligible for the capacity-building grant, organizations must be Indigenous-led, with a majority of the group self-identifying as First Nations, Indigenous or Métis, and operate on a non-profit basis. Grassroots groups or collectives must have two or more community members working together under a group name either on a single project or on an ongoing basis.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis starting today until Thursday, November 24. Applications will be assessed and grant recipients selected throughout the application period, so applicants are encouraged to apply early as funding may be allocated before the deadline. Applying early also allows groups the opportunity to receive feedback on their application from IAO staff, if required, and resubmit before the deadline.
