The Center for International Financial Services and Markets at Hofstra University’s Frank G. Zarb School of Business is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian A. Ruane, CEO Clearance and Collateral Management, BNY Mellon, as Chair of the Board of Advisors.
A graduate of the MBA program at Hofstra, Mr. Ruane is a frequent speaker at Hofstra, covering topics such as capital markets, collateral management, tri-party repo, and bank regulation. He also serves as a member of the Zarb School Dean’s Advisory Board.
“It is an honor to partner with the Center in this way to expand learning and networking opportunities in international finance and business for students, faculty, and the Hofstra community across all disciplines,” said Mr. Ruane. “I look forward to sharing insight and facilitating efforts to advance research, policy-making, and emerging technologies that move and shape the global marketplace.”
“We thank Brian for extending his work in the financial industry and with the Zarb School to help lead Center initiatives,” said Interim Provost Janet Lenaghan, PhD, who will resume her role as Zarb School Dean in July. “As Chair, he will be a guiding force for collaboration, discussion, and innovation at Hofstra.”
Outgoing Director of the Center, Professor of Finance Anoop Rai, emphasized that Mr. Ruane is perfect for the role given his contributions and enduring support of the Center. Dr. Rai’s successors, Associate Professors of Finance Dominique Outlaw and Nina Wang, will work with Ruane to expand the Board of Advisors to include finance leaders worldwide.
“Brian’s extensive international connections will provide exposure to a larger audience and expertise,” said Dr. Outlaw, “and enable the Center to move to the next level.”
The Center promotes the study of international financial services and markets with an emphasis on practical relevance to enrich the educational experience of Zarb School students, alumni, and the broader community. As thought-leaders in academia and industry, the Board of Advisors at the Center provides expertise and guidance to the Center’s Director and Associates to promote education, research, and scholarly activities in the field.
