Ontario Honours Accomplishments of 24 Exceptional Young People

April 29, 2022
Ontario honoured 24 remarkable young people between the ages of 15 and 24 with the Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers for 2019 and 2020 in a virtual ceremony. The medal is the highest recognition a young person can achieve for their outstanding volunteer contributions to the province.
“With much pride, as the representative of Her Majesty The Queen in Ontario, I congratulate the recipients of the Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers,” said Her Honour Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. “Our schools, our towns and cities, and our world, need empathy and understanding. You are proving that it is possible to find new and relevant ways to make positive change.”
As The Queen’s representative, the Lieutenant Governor presided over the medal presentation to the recipients. Ontario marks Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
“The young people we are celebrating today are extraordinary individuals and role models for Ontarians of all ages,” said Parm Gill, Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism. “We are inspired by the intention, passion, and achievements of these young people. They are truly deserving of the Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers, and I look forward to seeing what they do next.”
