Sacramento residents can soon get more cash back for replacing old, inefficient toilets.Starting Jan. 1, the Department of Utilities is updating its residential toilet rebate program to offer a higher rebate amount and support even more water-efficient options.What’s changing?Residential customers can qualify for up to $175 per ultra-high-efficiency toilet.New toilets must be a Maximum Performance (MaP) Premium model that uses 1.1 gallons per flush or less.What stays the same?Eligible replacements must be for toilets manufactured before 1992.Customers must receive pre-approval before installation.Customers replacing a toilet before Jan. 1 may still apply under the current program, which offers a $125 rebate to replace a pre-1992 toilet with a high-efficiency model that uses 1.28 gallons per flush or less.The City’s high-efficiency toilet rebate program for commercial, industrial and institutional customers will remain the same.
