Simplification of the EU carbon leakage instrument*
In a vote at 11.00, plenary is expected to back changes to the EU’s carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM), which are intended to reduce the administrative burden for small businesses and occasional importers.

New tariffs for goods coming from Russia and Belarus*
Also at 11.00, MEPs will vote on a proposal for a gradual increase of tariffs on fertilisers, as well as higher tariffs for some agricultural products imported from Russia and Belarus.

Choose Europe for science*
Starting at 9.00, MEPs, Commissioner Zaharieva,and Polish Minister Szłapka will discuss the “Choose Europe for Science” initiative, the EU’s effort to draw scientists, researchers, academics, and highly skilled professionals to Europe.

Activities of the EP Committee on Petitions. *Starting around 10.00, plenary and Commissioner Micallef will review the deliberations of Parliament’s Petitions Committee in 2023. MEPs will then vote on a related draft report.
Votes*
At noon, MEPs will also vote on:
the appointment of a Croatian member of the Court of Auditors; amendments to the Capital Requirements Regulation as regards securities financing transactions under the net stable funding ratio; granting equivalence to Moldova and Ukraine for field inspections and seed production, and the Research and Training Programme for the period 2026-2027 complementing Horizon.
