Open now, Unearthed: The Power of Gardening explores how gardening brings people together, empowers communities and shapes our relationship with the natural world. Drawing on the Library’s rich botanical and horticultural collections, discover gardening as a form of activism and explore how the global movement of plants has impacted society throughout history.
The exhibition is supported by a donation made in memory of Melvin R Seiden, with thanks to Stanley Smith (UK) Horticultural Trust for additional support.

Gardens of the Future: Unique Visions for a Changing World
In our exhibition book, Gardens of the Future: Unique Visions for a Changing World, ten award-winning garden designers have created designs that address themes of climate change, legacy, biodiversity, access to land, and individual wellbeing. This magnificent, fully-illustrated hardback, edited by Ruth Chivers with a foreword by Olivia Laing, intersperses these original designs with related items from our botanical and horticultural collections.
