Debate on Europe’s defence architecture with Presidents Costa and von der Leyen*
From 9.00, MEPs will assess the outcome of the 6 March Special European Council, outline their priorities for the 20-21 March summit, and discuss the urgent need to bolster the EU’s security architecture and the Commission’s Rearm Europe Plan with Presidents Costa and von der Leyen and Minister for European Union Affairs Sz?apka for the Polish Presidency. In a separate afternoon debate with Commissioner Kubilius and Minister Sz?apka, they will consider an upcoming white paper on the future of European defence, followed by a vote on Wednesday.

Celebrating International Women’s day*
To mark International Women’s Day, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, leader of Belarus’ democratic forces, will address MEPs at noon. She will be joined by three other Belarusian and Ukrainian women fighting for freedom, peace and justice. In the early afternoon, MEPs, alongside Commission Executive Vice-President Mînzatu and Minister for European Union Affairs Sz?apka for the Polish Presidency, will then debate the Commission’s “Roadmap for Women’s Rights”.

Clean Industry Deal: enhancing competitiveness and decarbonisation*
In a plenary debate with Commission Executive Vice-President Séjourné from around 18.00, MEPs will assess the recently announced Clean Industry Deal, which aims to address high energy costs and foster global cooperation. It includes measures to boost demand for clean products, mobilise funding for clean manufacturing, secure critical raw materials, and strengthen global partnerships

New Critical Medicines Act: addressing shortages and costs of medicines*
From around 14.30, MEPs, alongside Commissioner Várhelyi, will hold a first debate about the Commission’s proposal to address shortages of medicines and medical devices, reduce external reliance on critical medicines and ingredients, and ensure the supply of affordable medicines.

New EU approach on migrant returns*
In a debate from around 15.30 with Commissioner Brunner, MEPs will discuss another initiative to facilitate the return of third country nationals with no right to stay in the EU. A Commission proposal will be unveiled on the same day.

Gaza*. From around 21.00, MEPs, Commissioner Šuica and Minister for European Union Affairs Sz?apka for the Polish Presidency will discuss the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the absence of clarity on whether the ceasefire will be prolonged.
Syria*. In the early evening, Parliament, Commissioner Šuica and Minister for European Union Affairs Sz?apka for the Polish Presidency will discuss how the EU can contribute to a just transition in, and effective reconstruction of, Syria. A resolution will be put to a vote on Wednesday.
