The U.S. Department of State announced today that country music artist and U.S. Global Music Ambassador BRELAND will travel to Salvador, Brazil, November 5-8, 2024, to participate in Salvador Capital Afro, an official side event of the G20 Cultural Ministerial.  In addition to Brazil serving as the current president of the G20, this year marks the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Brazil.
While in Salvador, BRELAND will participate in “Music for Diplomacy and Inclusion,” a panel which will be hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Brazil, YouTube, and the Salvador Municipal Secretariat of Culture and Tourism, and will also feature Scott Weinhold, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs who is traveling to the G20 as Senior Bureau Official; Brazilian Musical Artist Majur;  Tuma Basa, Head of Black Culture and Black Music at YouTube; and representatives of the Brazilian government. The panel will highlight opportunities to empower Black artists and entrepreneurial communities, underscoring the impact of culture in local, regional, and global creative economies.
BRELAND, an American recording artist, songwriter, and producer, is celebrated for his innovative blend of country, hip-hop, and gospel influences. Originally gaining popularity with his now RIAA-certified 2X Platinum song “My Truck,” BRELAND has since collaborated with artists like Keith Urban, Nelly, X Ambassadors, Thomas Rhett, and more. As a U.S. Global Music Ambassador, he leverages his platform to foster cross-cultural connections and advocate for diversity and inclusion in the creative economy.
The U.S. Global Music Ambassadors are the centerpiece of the State Department-YouTube Global Music Partnership [ https://www.state.gov/department-of-state-and-youtube-announce-global-music-partnership-new-roster-of-u-s-global-music-ambassadors/ ], which was announced by Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and Global Head of Music at Google and YouTube Lyor Cohen earlier this year.  Spanning genres of music and generations of people, U.S. Global Music Ambassadors build on the legacy of the iconic U.S. Jazz Ambassadors of the 1950s and 1960s and use their music to bring people together and promote peace worldwide on behalf of the American people.
