Special Discount on Yes and Yes at Cork Opera House
The James Joyce Centre is pleased to offer its subscribers a 50% discount on Yes and Yes, a new work inspired by Ulysses at the Cork Opera House.
The Cork Opera House is delighted to present Liz Roche Company’s Yes and Yes for one night only on Wednesday, 26 April 2023 at 8pm.
To mark 100 years since the first publication of Ulysses, one of the most important works of modern literature, Solas Nua in Washington D.C., in partnership with Cork Opera House, commissioned choreographer Liz Roche and her company to create a brand-new dance piece, Yes and Yes.
Over 70 minutes, the work maps the movement of the narrative through the streets of Dublin in 1904 and explores those same spaces and encounters today, with contemporary bodies revealing new and surprising connections. Suffused with curiosity, sensuality, release and resignation, Yes and Yes explores Joyce’s story in movement with four extraordinary dancers and through film, sound and design.
A stellar creative team has collaborated on Yes and Yes, with an original score by Ray Harman, stage design and costumes by Katie Davenport, lighting by Davison Scandrett, film/visuals by Jose? Miguel Jime?nez, and dramaturgy by Wayne Jordan. Danced by Sarah Cerneaux, Mufutau Yusuf, Grace Cuny and Toon Theunissen.
