Standing Hearing Set for Inquest into
Death of Tyson Kane Roulette
A hearing date has been set to determine who can participate in the upcoming inquest into the death of Tyson Kane Roulette, 34, of Winnipeg.
On Dec. 8, 2019, Roulette was found hanged in his cell at Stony Mountain Institution. He was discovered by correctional officers conducting rounds. The officers began cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and emergency medical services and RCMP officers were called. An investigator from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner also went to the prison. Roulette was declared dead and the cause of death was determined to be hanging.
Under the Fatality Inquiries Act, an inquest has been called by the chief medical examiner. Inquests explore the circumstances and events leading to deaths to determine what, if anything, could be done to prevent similar deaths from occurring in the future.
The standing hearing will be held on April 5 at 1 p.m. in courtroom 408 at the Manitoba Law Courts Complex, 408 York Ave., Winnipeg.
