Beijing Treaty Consultation launched 
The IPO has today launched a consultation on proposed changes on audiovisual performances.
The Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances is an international agreement to provide intellectual property rights in audiovisual performances. These include performances given by actors, musicians, dancers and other performers that are incorporated in films, television programmes and other audiovisual recordings.
The *Beijing Treaty Consultation* builds on the Call for Views [ https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/beijing-treaty-on-audiovisual-performances-call-for-views/beijing-treaty-on-audiovisual-performances-call-for-views ] which the Government carried out in spring 2021. We are seeking evidence and views on the options for implementation.
The consultation also provides an opportunity to comment on draft legislation covering two main options:
* make necessary changes required to be compliant with the Treaty and introduce exclusive rights of broadcasting and communication to the public for audiovisual performances
* make necessary changes required to be compliant with the Treaty and introduce a right to equitable remuneration for broadcasting and communication to the public of audiovisual performances.
