Online media briefing: Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of Europe
The briefing, with Ireland’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Breifne O’Reilly, will take place from:
10.40 am CET (9.40 am Dublin time)
on Friday 4 November 2022
Issues to be discussed during the briefing may include the following:
– A stocktake of Ireland’s Presidency
– The visits on 7 November of Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ireland Simon Coveney and Prime Minister of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdóttir, and Presidency handover from Ireland to Iceland
– The World Forum for Democracy (7-9 November, Strasbourg) which will discuss the factors contributing to democratic decline and how these may be addressed, as the Forum marks its 10th anniversary
The briefing, which will take place in English, will include a short presentation by Ambassador O’Reilly followed by an opportunity for journalists to ask questions. It is intended for background information only and not for quotation, unless specifically agreed otherwise on a question-by-question basis.
