Brutal repression of protests in Iran*
Following Tuesday’s plenary debate, MEPs are set to adopt a resolution at noon calling on the Iranian regime to end executions and release detainees, and on the EU to strengthen its sanctions against Tehran.
Drones and new systems of warfare*
The day starts at 9.00 with a debate on drones. MEPs and Commission Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu will be discussing these and other new systems of warfare and the need for the EU to adapt to be fit for today’s security challenges. Parliament will vote on an own-initiative report at noon.
Motion of censure*
Following Monday’s debate in plenary, Parliament will vote by roll call at noon on a motion of censure against the European Commission. To be adopted, a motion must secure a two-thirds majority of the votes cast, representing a majority of the component members.
In brief European Pillar of Social Rights*. From around 10.30, the Commission Executive Vice-President responsible for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness, Roxana Mînzatu, will respond to an oral question on the new action plan to implement the European Pillar of Social Rights.
Capital punishment*. The final item on the plenary agenda is a debate from 15.00 with Roxana Mînzatu on action to address the growing use of the death penalty around the world.
Votes*
At noon, MEPs will vote, among others, on:
– an own-initiative report on European technological sovereignty and digital infrastructure;
– motions for resolutions on the situation following the presidential elections in Honduras; the case of Joseph Figueira Martin in Central African Republic; and the conviction and imminent sentencing of Jimmy Lai in Hong Kong;
– a motion for a resolution on the attempted takeover of Lithuania’s public broadcaster and the threat to democracy in Lithuania; and
– Parliament’s second reading position on a new regulation on detergents and surfactants.
